"The Head Home" with Marty

Marty Hall has spent most of his life behind a microphone – literally. As a young boy instead of writing letters he created his own radio station “WXLX – Ex-Lax Radio. The Most Regular Station In Town!” and sent tapes to family and friends. Growing up in the Carolinas, Marty found his way into radio in 1989 via college station WUSC. “I freely admit I was chasing a girl and when she offered to let me sit in on a show with her, I was hooked… on radio.” The relationship with the girl never happened, but radio and Marty became a steady item. After a year of WUSC it was on to Charlotte NC, Greenville SC, Columbia SC and Charleston SC. Along the way he also began a stint in comedy. For over 20 years he performed either as a stand-up comic or as part of the longest continuously running improv troupe in the Carolinas – The Art Bar Players. He also has started multiple businesses along the way, performed in front of crowds of thousands and been involved with community programs that serve a better good.

Moving to Gainesville happened in the summer of 2023. “I can only move on the hottest day of the year. Proven fact!” Freshly married to his longtime love Lynne, he has quickly grown to love North Central Florida. “The people, the scenery, all the amazing things to do and see, and the food! You’ll never find better, fresher, tastier food than in the heart of Florida Ag Country!” Now, with 35 years of broadcast experience Marty brings the Head Home weekdays from 3p-6p to the listeners of 106.9 I Am Country.
